The Holloway Social Media Paradox

There is an interesting paradox in recommending the systematic use of social media to promote businesses and ideas.  I will call it the Holloway Paradox because of my lack of humility.  Also known as 'Social Media is Eating Itself'!

Social media works because it contains honest interactions between informed, interested, helpful, consenting people. Online marketing people spend a lot of their time emulating interested, helpful people in order to promote their products and services.Which means they ultimately destroy the validity of social media.

Now that I can live with.  But what REALLY gets up my hooter is that these Online Marketing executives think that they are above the black-hat SEOs who use automated posting tools, cloaking and content scrape and twist when in fact MORALLY they are EXACTLY the same.

It's probably not a paradox just an ethical dilemna.  i.e. is pretending to be an interested helpful person in support of commerce not the moral equivalent of being an evil blackhat spammer?
